न किलातप्ततपसा शकक््यते द्रष्टमज्जसा । “वहाँके निवासियोंके तेजसे आँखें चौंधिया जानेके कारण हम वहाँ किसी पुरुषको देख नहीं पाते थे। तदनन्तर दैवयोगसे हमारे हृदयमें यह ज्ञान प्रकट हुआ कि तपस्या किये बिना हमलोग भगवानको सुगमतापूर्वक नहीं देख सकते
na kilātaptatapasā śakyate draṣṭum ajjasā |
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ചെയ്ത തപസ്സില്ലാതെ (ഭഗവാനെ) എളുപ്പത്തിലും നേരിട്ടും ദർശിക്കുവാൻ കഴിയില്ല. അവിടെയുള്ള നിവാസികളുടെ തേജസ്സാൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ മയങ്ങി, ആരെയും വ്യക്തമായി കാണാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അപ്പോൾ ദൈവയോഗത്താൽ നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഈ ബോധം ഉദിച്ചു—തപസ്സില്ലാതെ ഭഗവദ്ദർശനം സുഗമമല്ല.
