The verse highlights the ethical-spiritual ideal of learning within a disciplined lineage: a realized teacher (Vyāsa) established in austerity and surrounded by disciples, and the son-disciple (Śukadeva) approaching the father’s hermitage with reverence—emphasizing humility, study, and the sanctity of the āśrama as a seat of dharma.
Bhīṣma describes Śukadeva arriving at the place where Vyāsa is seated among his students. Śukadeva then sees his father’s beautiful and excellent hermitage, setting the scene for instruction and transmission of higher knowledge.
