अहं कर्तेति चाप्यन्यो गुणस्तत्र चतुर्दश: । ममायमिति येनायं मनन््यते न ममेति च,उस सत्त्वमें “मैं कर्ता हूँ" ऐसे अभिमानसे युक्त अहंकार नामक एक अन्य चौदहवाँ गुण है, जिससे जीवात्मा “यह वस्तु मेरी है और यह वस्तु मेरी नहीं है' ऐसा मानता है
ahaṃ karteti cāpy anyo guṇas tatra caturdaśaḥ | mamāyam iti yenāyaṃ manyate na mameti ca ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“അവിടെ മറ്റൊരു—പതിനാലാമത്തെ—ഗുണം ഉണ്ട്; അതിനെ ‘അഹങ്കാരം’ എന്നു പറയുന്നു: ‘ഞാനാണ് കര്ത്താവ്’ എന്ന അഭിമാനം. അതിനാലാണ് ജീവൻ ‘ഇത് എന്റേതാണ്’ എന്നും ‘ഇത് എന്റേതല്ല’ എന്നും കരുതുന്നത്.”
