महेश्वर उवाच सुरैरेव महाभागे पूर्वमेतदनुछितम्‌ । यज्ञेषु सर्वेषु मम न भाग उपकल्पित:,महेश्वरने कहा--महाभागे! देवताओंने ही पहले ऐसा निश्चय किया था। उन्होंने सभी यज्ञोंमेंसे किसीमें भी मेरे लिये भाग नियत नहीं किया

Maheśvara uvāca: surair eva mahābhāge pūrvam etad anuṣṭhitam | yajñeṣu sarveṣu mama na bhāga upakalpitaḥ ||

മഹേശ്വരൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ മഹാഭാഗേ! പണ്ടേ ദേവന്മാർ തന്നെയാണ് ഈ ക്രമം നിശ്ചയിച്ചത്; എല്ലാ യാഗങ്ങളിലും എനിക്ക് ഒരു ഭാഗവും നിശ്ചയിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. അവരുടെ മുൻവിധിയാൽ തന്നെയാണ് ഞാൻ യാഗഭാഗത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഒഴിവാക്കപ്പെട്ടത്.
