Educational Q&A

Ethical self-governance begins with practical discipline: moderate, wholesome, digestible food prevents bodily afflictions; contentment counters greed and delusion; and insight into reality weakens fixation on sense-pleasures.

In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and right living, Bhishma advises the listener on methods to remove physical and mental obstacles—linking health, contentment, and philosophical discernment as supports for a steady life of virtue.
