Adhyāya 270 — Yudhiṣṭhira’s inquiry on saṃnyāsa; Bhīṣma on calculable time, tamas, and karma
Vṛtra–Uśanā exemplum begins
कामलोभानुबन्धेन पुरा ते यदसूयितम् । मया स्नेहमविज्ञाय तत्र मे क्षन्तुमहसि
kāmalobhānubandhena purā te yad asūyitam | mayā sneham avijñāya tatra me kṣantum arhasi ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മുമ്പ് കാമലോഭങ്ങളുടെ ബന്ധനത്തിൽ പെട്ട് ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു അസൂയയോടെ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകളിൽ ഉള്ള സ്നേഹം തിരിച്ചറിയാതെ പോയി; ആ കുറ്റത്തിനായി നീ എന്നെ ക്ഷമിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
