Vṛtra–Uśanā exemplum begins
ततश्रिन्तामनुप्राप्त: कतमद्दैवतं तु तत् यन्ये द्रुतं प्रसीदेत मानुषैरजडीकृतम्
tataś cintām anuprāptaḥ katamad daivataṃ tu tat | yan me drutaṃ prasīdet mānuṣair ajadīkṛtam ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അപ്പോൾ അവൻ ചിന്തയിൽപ്പെട്ടു: ‘എന്നോട് വേഗം പ്രസന്നനാകുന്ന ദൈവം ഏത്? മനുഷ്യർ അവരുടെ ആരാധനാരീതികളാൽ ജഡവും യാന്ത്രികവുമാക്കി മാറ്റാത്ത ദൈവം ഏത്?’
