नारद–असित (देवल) संवादः — भूतप्रभवाप्यय, इन्द्रिय-गुण-विवेक, क्षेत्रज्ञ-तत्त्व
स बुद्धिमुत्तमां प्राप्तो नैप्चेकीमकुतो भयाम् । सतीमशिशथिलां सत्यां वेदा३ इत्यब्रवीत् सकृत्,तब उत्तम, निर्भय, सुस्थिर, सत्य, सद्धावयुक्त एवं उत्साहयुक्त बुद्धिको प्राप्त हुए महर्षि कपिलने केवल एक बार इतना ही कहा--हा वेद! (जो तुम्हारे नामपर लोग ऐसा अनाचार करते हैं)
sa buddhim uttamāṁ prāpto naipcekīm akuto-bhayām | satīm aśithilāṁ satyāṁ vedā iti abravīt sakṛt ||
അപ്പോൾ പരമോന്നത ബുദ്ധി പ്രാപിച്ച—അചഞ്ചലനും എല്ലായിടത്തുനിന്നും ഭയരഹിതനും സത്യനിഷ്ഠനും അശിഥിലനും ആയ—മഹർഷി കപിലൻ ഒരിക്കൽ മാത്രം പറഞ്ഞു: “ഹാ, വേദാ!” (വേദത്തിന്റെ പേരിൽ നടക്കുന്ന അനാചാരം കണ്ടു വിലപിച്ച്).
