पापात्म-धर्मात्म-लक्षणम् तथा निर्वेदेन मोक्षमार्गः | Marks of the Sinful and the Righteous; Dispassion (Nirveda) as a Path to Liberation

व्यभिचारे तु कम्मिंश्षिद्‌ व्यतिक्रम्पापरान्‌ सुतान्‌ । पित्रोक्त: कुपितेनाथ जहीमां जननीमिति,एक दिनकी बात है, गौतमने अपनी स्त्रीके द्वारा किये गये किसी व्यभिचारपर कुपित हो अपने दूसरे पुत्रोंकी न कहकर चिरकारीसे कहा--बेटा! तू अपनी इस पापिनी माताको मार डाल'

vyabhicāre tu kammiṁścid vyatikramapāparān sutān | pitroktaḥ kupitenātha jahīmāṁ jananīm iti ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഒരിക്കൽ വ്യഭിചാരത്തിന്റെ സംഭവം ഉണ്ടായപ്പോൾ ഗൗതമൻ ക്രോധാകുലനായി. മറ്റു പുത്രന്മാരോട് പറയാതെ, ചിരകാരിയോട് പറഞ്ഞു—‘മകനേ! ഈ പാപിനിയായ നിന്റെ ജനനിയെ വധിക്ക.’”
