स कामकान्तो न तु कामकामः: स वै कामात् स्वर्गमुपैति देही,भोग ही उस स्थितप्रज्ञ पुरुषकी कामना करते हैं, परंतु वह भोगोंकी कामना नहीं रखता। जो कामभोग चाहनेवाला देहाभिमानी है, वह कामनाओंके फल-स्वरूप स्वर्गलोकमें चला जाता है
sa kāmakānto na tu kāmakāmaḥ | sa vai kāmāt svargamupaiti dehī |
ഭോഗങ്ങളാണ് ആ സ്ഥിതപ്രജ്ഞനെ തേടുന്നതുപോലെ; എന്നാൽ അവൻ ഭോഗങ്ങളെ തേടുന്നില്ല. ദേഹാഭിമാനത്തോടെ ഭോഗങ്ങളെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവൻ കാമനകളുടെ ഫലമായി സ്വർഗ്ഗലോകം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു.
व्यास उवाच
A steady-minded person may be admired by the desire-driven, but he does not pursue pleasures; the body-identified pleasure-seeker, acting from desire, attains heaven as a karmic result—still within the cycle of results—rather than the freedom that comes from desirelessness.
