यस्तु शत्रोर्वशस्थस्य शक्तो5पि कुरुते दयाम् । हस्तप्राप्तस्य वीरस्य तं चैव पुरुषं विदु:
yastu śatror vaśasthasya śakto 'pi kurute dayām | hastaprāptasya vīrasya taṃ caiva puruṣaṃ viduḥ ||
ശക്തിയുണ്ടായിട്ടും തന്റെ അധീനതയിൽ വീണു കൈവശമായ വീരശത്രുവിനോടു കരുണ കാണിക്കുന്നവനെയാണു ജ്ഞാനികൾ ഉത്തമപുരുഷനെന്നു അറിയുന്നത്।
