स एव हाुस्तमयते स सम विद्योतते दिश:
sa eva hāstamayate sa samaṁ vidyotate diśaḥ | sa eva yathāsamayaṁ ālasyaṁ chittvā samantād diśaḥ prakāśayati, sa evāstam eti sa eva varṣati | brahman! taṁ baliṁ ahaṁ mṛgayamāṇo ’pi na paśyāmi | tvaṁ me rājānaṁ balikaṁ ācakṣva ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അവൻ തന്നെയാണ് അസ്തമിക്കുന്നത്; അവൻ തന്നെയാണ് സമമായി പ്രകാശിച്ച് ദിക്കുകളെ പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. അവൻ തന്നെയാണ് കാലാനുസൃതമായി മഴ പെയ്യിക്കുന്നത്. ഹേ ബ്രഹ്മൻ! ആ ബലിയെ ഞാൻ അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടും കണ്ടെത്തുന്നില്ല; രാജാവ് ബലി എവിടെയെന്ന് എനിക്ക് പറഞ്ഞുതരിക.
