एवमर्थरनर्थश्व दु:खिता: सर्वजन्तव: । आगमैरपकृष्यन्ते हस्तिपैहस्तिनो यथा
evam artha-anarthau ca duḥkhitāḥ sarva-jantavaḥ | āgamair apakṛṣyante hastipair hastino yathā ||
ഇങ്ങനെ ലാഭവും നഷ്ടവും എല്ലാജീവികളെയും ദുഃഖിതരാക്കുന്നു. ശാസ്ത്രങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാമാണിക ഉപദേശങ്ങളാണ് അവരെ വലിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് സന്മാർഗത്തിലേക്ക് തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നത്—അങ്കുശംകൊണ്ട് മഹാവത്ത് ആനകളെ നിയന്ത്രിച്ച് നയിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ.
