भीष्म उवाच
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it signals that the chapter’s subject was an exposition of adhyātma (spiritual knowledge) connected with Śrī Kṛṣṇa, situated within the Śānti Parva’s dharma-discourse framework.
The text is closing the chapter: it formally announces the completion of the 217th chapter within the Śānti Parva (in the Go-kṣa-dharma section). Although attributed under “Bhīṣma uvāca” in the running context, the sentence itself functions as an editorial/end-of-chapter marker.
