Adhyāya 180: Jīva, Śarīra, and the Fire Analogy (भृगु–भरद्वाज संवादः)
धारयामि च चीराणि शाणक्षौमाजिनानि च । महाहाणि च वासांसि धारयाम्यहमेकदा,“मैं कभी तो चिथड़े अथवा वलल््कल पहनकर रहता हूँ, कभी सनके, कभी रेशमके और कभी मृगचर्मके वस्त्र धारण करता हूँ तथा किसी एक कालमें बहुत-से बहुमूल्य वस्त्रोंको भी पहन लेता हूँ
dhārayāmi ca cīrāṇi śāṇakṣaumājināni ca | mahāhāṇi ca vāsāṃsi dhārayāmy aham ekadā ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“ചിലപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ചീറുകൾ (ചീന്തിയ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ) ധരിക്കുന്നു; ചിലപ്പോൾ വൽക്കലം. ചിലപ്പോൾ ശണം-ക്ഷൗമവസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ, ചിലപ്പോൾ മൃഗചർമ്മം; പിന്നെ ചില കാലങ്ങളിൽ അനേകം വിലയേറിയ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും ഞാൻ ധരിക്കുന്നു.”
