Adhyāya 178 — The courses of prāṇa-vāyu and the regulation of the bodily fire

अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम्‌ । निर्वेदान्मड़किना गीतं तन्निबोध युधिष्ठिर

Transliteration

atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṃ purātanam | nirvedān maḍakinā gītaṃ tan nibodha yudhiṣṭhira ||

Translation

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇവിടെയും അവർ ഒരു പുരാതന ഇതിഹാസത്തെ ഉദാഹരണമായി ഉദ്ധരിക്കുന്നു. യുധിഷ്ഠിരാ! നിർവേദത്തിൽ നിന്ന് മഡകി മുനി പാടിയ ആ വചനത്തെ കേൾക്കുക; ആ പഴയ കഥ ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് പറയുന്നു.
