सो5सृजद् वातमर्ग्निं च भास्करं चापि वीर्यवान् । आकाशमस्जच्चोर्ध्वमधो भूमिं च नै#ऋतीम्,उन शक्तिशाली पितामहने वायु, अग्नि और सूर्यकी सृष्टि की। आकाश, ऊपर, नीचे, भूमि तथा राक्षससमूहकी भी रचना की
so ’sṛjad vātaṃ vahniṃ ca bhāskaraṃ cāpi vīryavān | ākāśam asṛjac cordhvam adho bhūmiṃ ca nairṛtīm ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ആ മഹാവീര്യനായ പിതാമഹൻ വായുവും അഗ്നിയും സൂര്യനും സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു. കൂടാതെ ആകാശം, മേലും കീഴും ഉള്ള ലോകങ്ങൾ, ഭൂമി, നൈഋത (രാക്ഷസ) വർഗ്ഗത്തിലുള്ള ജീവികളെയും അവൻ നിർമ്മിച്ചു।
