त्रिवर्गविचारः

Tri-varga Deliberation: Dharma, Artha, Kāma

अवाचिनोति कर्माणि न च सम्प्रचिनोति ह । सम: सर्वेषु भूतेषु मैत्रायणगतिक्चरेत्‌,वह उपभोगद्वारा प्रारब्ध-कर्मोंकोी क्षीण करता है और कर्तृत्वाभिमान तथा फलासक्तिसे शून्य होनेके कारण नूतन कर्मोका संचय नहीं करता है। सभी प्राणियोंमें समानभाव रखकर सबको मित्रकी भाँति अभयदान देता हुआ विचरता है

avācinoti karmāṇi na ca sampracīnōti ha | samaḥ sarveṣu bhūteṣu maitrāyaṇagatiś caret ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അവൻ ആരംഭിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞ (പ്രാരബ്ധ) കര്‍മ്മങ്ങളെ മാത്രം ക്ഷയിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; പുതുക്കര്‍മ്മങ്ങൾ സഞ്ചയിക്കുന്നില്ല. എല്ലാ ജീവികളോടും സമഭാവം പുലർത്തി, മിത്രഭാവത്തോടെ—എല്ലാവർക്കും അഭയം നല്കിക്കൊണ്ട്—അവൻ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു.
