Adhyāya 159 — Dāna–Dakṣiṇā, Āpaddharma Measures, and Prāyaścitta Classifications

येष्वलोभस्तथामोहो ये च सत्यार्जवे स्थिता: । तेषु कौन्तेय रज्येथा येषां न भ्रश्यते पुन:,कुन्तीनन्दन! जिनमें लोभ और मोहका अभाव है, जो सत्य और सरलतामें स्थित हैं तथा कभी सदाचारसे भ्रष्ट नहीं होते हैं, ऐसे पुरुषोंमें तुम्हें प्रेम रखना चाहिये

yeṣv alobhas tathā moho ye ca satyārjave sthitāḥ | teṣu kaunteya rajyethā yeṣāṃ na bhraśyate punaḥ ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—കൗന്തേയാ, ലാഭലോഭവും മോഹവും ഇല്ലാത്തവർ, സത്യത്തിലും ആർജവത്തിലും സ്ഥിരമായവർ, വീണ്ടും ഒരിക്കലും സദാചാരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് തെറ്റിപ്പോകാത്തവർ—അവരോടാണ് നീ സ്നേഹവും വിശ്വാസവും വെക്കേണ്ടത്; കാരണം അവരുടെ സ്വഭാവം ധർമ്മത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വഴുതുകയില്ല.
