एषा बुद्धि: समस्तानां चातुर्वण्यें निदर्शिता,चारों वर्णोमें उत्पन्न हुए सभी लोगोंके लिये यह बुद्धि प्रदर्शित की गयी है। धर्म, अर्थ और मोक्षसे युक्त इस शुभ इतिहासको सदा सुननेसे मनुष्य इहलोक और परलोकमें आनन्दका अनुभव करता है
eṣā buddhiḥ samastānāṃ cāturvarṇye nidarśitā | dharma-artha-mokṣa-yuktaṃ śubham itihāsaṃ sadā śrutvā manuṣya ihaloke paraloke ca ānandasya anubhavaṃ karoti ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ചാതുർവർണ്യത്തിലെ എല്ലാവർക്കുമായി ഈ ബോധം പ്രതിപാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ധർമ്മം, അർത്ഥം, മോക്ഷം എന്നിവയാൽ സമ്പന്നമായ ഈ ശുഭചരിത്രം നിത്യമായി ശ്രവിക്കുന്നവൻ ഇഹലോകത്തും പരലോകത്തും—ഇരുവിടത്തും—ആനന്ദം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നു.
