कपोत-लुब्धकसंवादः — Hunter’s Remorse and Renunciatory Resolve

न धर्मवचन वाचा नैव बुद्धयेति नः श्रुतम्‌ । इति बार्हस्पतं ज्ञानं प्रोवाच मघवा स्वयम्‌

Transliteration

na dharmavacana-vācā naiva buddhayeti naḥ śrutam | iti bārhaspataṃ jñānaṃ provāca maghavā svayam ||

Translation

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്: ധർമ്മം വെറും വാക്കുകൊണ്ടുമാത്രമല്ല, വെറും ബുദ്ധി-തർക്കം കൊണ്ടുമാത്രമല്ല, നിർണ്ണയിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. ശാസ്ത്രവചനവും യുക്തിയും ചേർന്നാലേ ധർമ്മനിർണ്ണയം ഉണ്ടാകൂ—ഇതാണ് ബൃഹസ്പതിയുടെ ഉപദേശം; ഇതേ മഘവാ (ഇന്ദ്രൻ) സ്വയം പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.
