श्षपच उवाच सुहृद् भूत्वानुशासे त्वां कृपा हि त्वयि मे द्विज । यदिदं श्रेय आधत्स्व मा लोभात् पातकं कृथा:
śvapaca uvāca: suhṛd bhūtvānuśāse tvāṁ kṛpā hi tvayi me dvija | yad idaṁ śreya ādhatsva mā lobhāt pātakaṁ kṛthāḥ ||
ശ്വപചൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ഹേ ദ്വിജാ! നിന്റെ സുഹൃത്തായി ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു; നിനക്കു മേൽ എനിക്ക് സത്യമായ കരുണയുണ്ട്. ഇവിടെ യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ ശ്രേയസ്കരമായതു സ്വീകരിക്ക; ലാഭലോഭത്തിൽ പാപകർമ്മം ചെയ്യരുത്.
