नीतिशास्त्रं समाश्रित्य हितमस्योपवर्णये । येनेमं शत्रुसंघातं मतिपूर्वेण वजचये,“आज नीतिशास्त्रका सहारा लेकर इसके हितका वर्णन करूँगा जिससे बुद्धिके द्वारा इस शत्रुसमुदायको धोखा देकर बच जाऊँगा
bhīṣma uvāca | nītiśāstraṃ samāśritya hitam asyopavarṇaye | yenemaṃ śatrusaṃghātaṃ matipūrveṇa vañcaye | adya nītiśāstrakā sahārā lekar iske hitakā varṇan karū̃gā jis se buddhike dvārā is śatrusamudāyako dhokhā dekar bac jāū̃gā |
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇന്ന് ഞാൻ നീതിശാസ്ത്രത്തെ ആശ്രയിച്ച് അവന്റെ ഹിതം വിവരിക്കും; അങ്ങനെ ബുദ്ധിപൂർവം ഈ ശത്രുസമൂഹത്തെ വഞ്ചിച്ച് ഞാൻ രക്ഷപ്പെടും. നീതിശാസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെ തുണയോടെ അവന്റെ ക്ഷേമം തന്നെ പ്രസ്താവിക്കും; മനസ്സിന്റെ തന്ത്രം കൊണ്ട് ഈ ശത്രുദളത്തെ ചതിച്ച് മോചനം നേടും.
