आपद्धर्मनिर्णयः — विश्वामित्र-श्वपचसंवादः

तम्मित्र कारणं सर्व विस्तरेणापि मे शूणु । कारणात्‌ प्रियतामेति द्वेष्यो भवति कारणात्‌,“इसके सिवा तुम जो यह मीठी-मीठी बात कह रहे हो कि “आज तुम मुझे बड़े प्रिय लगते हो” इसका भी कारण है, मेरे मित्र! वह सब मैं विस्तारके साथ बताता हूँ, सुनो। मनुष्य कारणसे ही प्रेमपात्र और कारणसे ही द्वेषका पात्र बनता है

tan mitra kāraṇaṁ sarvaṁ vistareṇāpi me śṛṇu | kāraṇāt priyatām eti dveṣyo bhavati kāraṇāt ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“സുഹൃത്തേ, ഇതിന്റെ മുഴുവൻ കാരണവും എന്നിൽ നിന്ന് വിശദമായി കേൾക്കൂ. കാരണത്താൽ മനുഷ്യൻ സ്നേഹപാത്രനാകുന്നു; കാരണത്താൽ തന്നെ ദ്വേഷപാത്രനാകുന്നു.”
