Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṛtakṛtyatā—fulfilling one’s responsibility before seeking personal meetings or comforts. Kṛṣṇa is portrayed as dharmātmā: he completes necessary affairs at Hastināpura and then turns to meet the Pāṇḍavas, suggesting an ethic of duty-first conduct and orderly restoration of relationships after conflict.

After attending to matters in Hastināpura, Kṛṣṇa wishes to see the Pāṇḍavas. He therefore returns from the city to their śibira (camp), marking a narrative movement from political/royal space back to the warriors’ encampment and the Pāṇḍavas’ circle.
