Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
यदि न त्वं भवे्नाथ: फाल्गुनस्य महारणे । कथं शक््यो रणे जेतुं भवेदेष बलार्णव:,“यदि आप इस महासमरमें अर्जुनके स्वामी और सहायक न होते तो युद्धमें इस कौरव- सेनारूपी समुद्रपर विजय पाना कैसे सम्भव हो सकता था?
yadi na tvaṃ bhaven nāthaḥ phālgunasya mahāraṇe | kathaṃ śakyo raṇe jetuṃ bhaved eṣa balārṇavaḥ ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ആ മഹാസമരത്തിൽ നീ ഫാൽഗുണൻ (അർജുനൻ)ന്റെ നാഥനും രക്ഷകനുമായിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ, ബലസമുദ്രംപോലെയുള്ള ഈ കൗരവസേനയെ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ജയിക്കുക എങ്ങനെ സാധ്യമാകുമായിരുന്നു?
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores that mere human prowess is insufficient against overwhelming force; righteous victory becomes possible through the presence of a true nātha—guiding protection and higher support—here understood as the decisive aid given to Arjuna.
Vaiśampāyana comments on the battle situation by highlighting that without Arjuna’s protector and master in the great war, conquering the vast Kaurava force—likened to an ocean—would have been impossible.
