Educational Q&A

Even a ruler famed for dharma is not beyond error; when a moral lapse occurs, its consequences can return repeatedly as renewed danger. The verse stresses attentive listening to counsel and the ethical principle that responsibility follows action, regardless of one’s reputation.

Vāyudeva addresses a Pāṇḍava, announcing that he will restate an important warning. He attributes a renewed threat or fear faced by “us” to an offense committed by Dharmarāja (Yudhiṣṭhira), framing the moment as admonition and explanation of causality within the unfolding events.
