अध्याय ४ — दुर्योधनस्य असंधि-निश्चयः
Duryodhana’s Refusal of Reconciliation
पुत्रो भ्राता पिता चैव स्वस्रनीयो मातुलस्तथा । सम्बन्धिबान्धवाश्रैव योद्धया वै क्षत्रजीविना,'क्षत्रियधर्मसे जीवन-निर्वाह करनेवाले पुरुषके लिये पुत्र, भ्राता, पिता, भानजा, मामा, सम्बन्धी तथा बन्धु-बान्धव--इन सबके साथ युद्ध करना कर्तव्य है
putro bhrātā pitā caiva svasr̥nīyo mātulas tathā | sambandhi-bāndhavāś caiva yoddhavyā vai kṣatrajīvinā ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ക്ഷത്രിയധർമ്മം ആശ്രയിച്ച് ജീവിക്കുന്നവന് പുത്രൻ, സഹോദരൻ, പിതാവ്, സഹോദരിയുടെ പുത്രൻ, മാതുലൻ (മാമൻ), കൂടാതെ ബന്ധുക്കളും കുലബന്ധുക്കളും—ഇവരോടും യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നത് കടമ തന്നെയാണ്.
