Educational Q&A

Even amid war, conduct is governed by protocol and restraint: Sañjaya does not act rashly but seeks formal permission to withdraw, reflecting disciplined speech and respect for authority in a tense ethical setting.

Sañjaya reports that the Pāṇḍavas are approaching in high spirits, appearing like victors. Anticipating their arrival, he proposes that his side move away and requests leave from the addressed superior to depart.
