धृष्टद्युम्नस्तु समरे बलवान् दृढविक्रम: । सप्तत्या विशिखानां वै दुर्योधनमपीडयत्,तब सुदृढ़ पराक्रमी बलवान धृष्टद्युम्नने संग्रामभूमिमें सत्तर बाण मारकर दुर्योधनको पीड़ित कर दिया
dhṛṣṭadyumnas tu samare balavān dṛḍha-vikramaḥ | saptatyā viśikhānāṃ vai duryodhanam apīḍayat ||
അപ്പോൾ സമരത്തിൽ ബലവാനും ദൃഢവിക്രമനുമായ ധൃഷ്ടദ്യുമ്നൻ എഴുപത് അമ്പുകൾ പ്രയോഗിച്ച് ദുര്യോധനനെ കഠിനമായി പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the war-ethic of measured prowess: a warrior’s effectiveness is shown through steadfast courage and disciplined action. It also reflects the Mahābhārata’s sober view that in war, even rightful duty (kṣatriya-dharma) manifests as causing suffering, inviting reflection on the moral cost of conflict.
Sañjaya reports that Dhṛṣṭadyumna, powerful and unwavering in valor, overwhelms Duryodhana in combat by striking him with seventy arrows, thereby harassing and hurting him on the battlefield.
