शल्यपर्वणि प्रथमाध्यायः — Karṇa-vadha-anantaraṃ Śalya-niyogaḥ, Saṃjayasya Dhṛtarāṣṭra-nivedanam

ततः शल्यो महाराज कृत्वा कदनमाहवे । ससैन्यो5थ स मध्याल्ले धर्मराजेन घातित:,महाराज! तत्पश्चात्‌ सेनासहित शल्य युद्धमें बड़ा भारी संहार मचाकर मध्याह्नकालमें धर्मराज युधिष्ठिरके हाथसे मारे गये

tataḥ śalyo mahārāja kṛtvā kadanam āhave | sa-sainyo 'tha sa madhyāhne dharmarājena ghātitaḥ ||

മഹാരാജാ, തുടർന്ന് ശല്യൻ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ഭീകരസംഹാരം നടത്തി; പിന്നെ മധ്യാഹ്നത്തിൽ അവൻ തന്റെ സൈന്യത്തോടുകൂടി ധർമ്മരാജ യുദ്ധിഷ്ഠിരന്റെ കൈയ്യാൽ വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു।
