उदतिष्ठन् कबन्धानि बहुन्युत्थाय चापतन् । सहसौरों मनुष्य मारे जाकर पृथ्वीपर पड़े थे। उनमेंसे बहुतेरे कबन्ध (धड़) उठकर खड़े हो जाते और पुनः गिर पड़ते थे

സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു— അനേകം കബന്ധങ്ങൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് നിന്നു, പിന്നെയും വീണു. ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് മനുഷ്യർ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു ഭൂമിയിൽ കിടന്നിരുന്നു; അവരിൽ പലരുടെ തലരഹിത ദേഹങ്ങൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് വീണ്ടും നിലത്തേക്ക് പതിച്ചു.
