अध्याय १ — न्यग्रोधवनोपवेशनम् तथा द्रौणिनिश्चयः
Night at the Banyan and Drauṇi’s Resolve
'पांचालयोद्धा हर्षमें भरकर सिंहनाद करते, हल्ला मचाते, हँसते, सैकड़ों शंख बजाते और डंके पीटते हैं ।।
vāditraghoṣas tumulo vimiśraḥ śaṅkhaniḥsvanaiḥ | anilenāritaḥ ghoro diśaḥ pūrayatīva ha ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ശംഖധ്വനിയോടു ചേർന്ന നാനാവിധ വാദ്യങ്ങളുടെ തുമുലവും ഗംഭീരവും ഭീകരവുമായ ഘോഷം കാറ്റാൽ പ്രേരിതമായി സർവ്വദിക്കുകളെയും നിറയ്ക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തോന്നി.
