अध्याय १ — न्यग्रोधवनोपवेशनम् तथा द्रौणिनिश्चयः
Night at the Banyan and Drauṇi’s Resolve
पतड्डग्निसमां वृत्तिमास्थायात्मविनाशिनीम् । न्यायतो युध्यमानस्य प्राणत्यागो न संशय:
pataṅgāgnisamāṁ vṛttim āsthāyātmavināśinīm | nyāyato yudhyamānasya prāṇatyāgo na saṁśayaḥ ||
പതംഗം അഗ്നിയിലേക്കു ചാടുന്നതുപോലെ—സ്വയം നാശത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്ന വഴിയെ ആശ്രയിച്ചാൽ—സംശയമില്ല: ഞാൻ നീതിയോടും യുദ്ധധർമ്മത്തോടും ഒത്തു പോരാടുകയാണെങ്കിൽ പ്രാണത്യാഗം ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരും।
