अध्याय १ — न्यग्रोधवनोपवेशनम् तथा द्रौणिनिश्चयः
Night at the Banyan and Drauṇi’s Resolve
न लेभे स तु निद्रां वै दहमानो हि मन्युना । वीक्षाज्चक्रे महाबाहुस्तद् वनं घोरदर्शनम्
na lebhe sa tu nidrāṃ vai dahamāno hi manyunā | vīkṣāṃ cakre mahābāhus tad vanaṃ ghoradarśanam ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—കോപത്തിൽ കത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നതിനാൽ അവനു നിദ്ര ലഭിച്ചില്ല. ആ മഹാബാഹു വീരൻ ഭയാനകദർശനമായ ആ വനത്തിലേക്ക് വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ദൃഷ്ടി പതിപ്പിച്ചു.
