Vidura said: “Those who, out of greed, drive the heirs of Pāṇḍu out of the kingdom—once we are separated from the sons of Pāṇḍu, all of us become truly helpless and without a protector.”

Greed-driven political acts—such as expelling rightful heirs—undermine dharma and harm the entire realm; when righteous protectors are removed, society feels leaderless and insecure.
In the context of the Pāṇḍavas’ forced departure, Vidura voices (and reflects) the people’s anguish: the Kauravas, motivated by lobha, are driving Pāṇḍu’s sons out, leaving the populace feeling abandoned and unprotected.
