Sabhā-praveśa, Dāna, and the Courtly Convergence (सभा-प्रवेशः दानं च)
तत्र मल्ला नटा झल्ला: सूता वैतालिकास्तथा | उपतस्थुर्महात्मानं धर्मपुत्रं युधिष्ठिरम्,वहाँ धर्मपुत्र महात्मा युधिष्ठिरकी सेवामें कितने ही मल्ल (बाहुयुद्ध करनेवाले), नट, झल्ल (लकुटियोंसे युद्ध करनेवाले), सूत और वैतालिक उपस्थित हुए
tatra mallā naṭā jhallāḥ sūtā vaitālikās tathā | upatasthur mahātmānaṃ dharmaputraṃ yudhiṣṭhiram |
അവിടെ ധർമ്മപുത്രനായ മഹാത്മാവ് യുധിഷ്ഠിരന്റെ സേവയിൽ പല മല്ലന്മാരും, നടന്മാരും, ഝല്ലന്മാരും, സൂതന്മാരും, വൈതാലികന്മാരും കൂടി സന്നിഹിതരായി।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Righteous kingship attracts voluntary support from diverse sections of society. The verse highlights how dharma-based authority is affirmed not only by warriors and ministers but also by cultural and professional communities who gather to honor and serve a virtuous ruler.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes people of various professions—wrestlers, performers, club-fighters, sūtas, and bards—assembling to attend upon Yudhiṣṭhira, indicating the growing splendor and social recognition of his royal court.
