सभा पर्व, अध्याय ३७ — युधिष्ठिरस्य भीष्मोपदेशः
Yudhiṣṭhira’s Consultation and Bhīṣma’s Counsel in the Assembly
नायं युक्त: समाचार: पाण्डवेषु महात्मसु । यत् कामात् पुण्डरीकाक्षं पाण्डवार्चितवानसि,महात्मा पाण्डवोंके लिये यह विपरीत आचार कभी उचित नहीं है। पाण्डुकुमार! तुमने स्वार्थवश कमलनयन श्रीकृष्णका पूजन किया है। पाण्डवो! अभी तुमलोग बालक हो। तुम्हें धर्मका पता नहीं है, क्योंकि धर्मका स्वरूप अत्यन्त सूक्ष्म है। ये गंगानन्दन भीष्म बहुत बूढ़े हो गये हैं। अब इनकी स्मरणशक्ति जवाब दे चुकी है। इनकी सूझ और समझ भी बहुत कम हो गयी है (तभी इन्होंने श्रीकृष्णपूजाकी सम्मति दी है)
nāyaṁ yuktaḥ samācāraḥ pāṇḍaveṣu mahātmasu | yat kāmāt puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ pāṇḍavārcitavān asi |
മഹാത്മാക്കളായ പാണ്ഡവരോടുള്ള ഈ ആചാരം യുക്തമല്ല. ഹേ പാണ്ഡുകുമാരാ! നീ സ്വാർത്ഥവശാൽ പദ്മനയനനായ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനെ പൂജിച്ചു. ഹേ പാണ്ഡവരേ! നിങ്ങൾ ഇനിയും ബാലകരാണ്; ധർമ്മത്തിന്റെ സ്വരൂപം അത്യന്തം സൂക്ഷ്മമായതിനാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അതറിയുന്നില്ല. ഗംഗാനന്ദനായ ഭീഷ്മനും ഇപ്പോൾ അതിവൃദ്ധനായി; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സ്മൃതിശക്തി ക്ഷീണിച്ചു, ബുദ്ധിയും മന്ദമായി—അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണപൂജയ്ക്ക് സമ്മതി നൽകി।
