अर्जुनस्य दिग्विजयारम्भः — Arjuna Initiates the Northern Campaign and Secures Bhagadattta’s Tribute
ततस्तमजितं जेतुं जरासंधं वृकोदर: । संरम्भं बलिनां श्रेष्ठो जग्राह कुरुनन्दन:,तदनन्तर कुरुकुलको आनन्दित करनेवाले बलवानोंमें श्रेष्ठ वकोदरने उस अपराजित शत्रु जरासंधको जीतनेके लिये भारी क्रोध धारण किया
tatas tam ajitaṃ jetuṃ jarāsandhaṃ vṛkodaraḥ | saṃrambhaṃ balināṃ śreṣṭho jagrāha kurunandanaḥ ||
അതിനുശേഷം, അജിതനായ ജരാസന്ധനെ ജയിക്കാനായി, ബലവാന്മാരിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ വൃകോദരൻ—ഹേ കുരുനന്ദന—പ്രചണ്ഡമായ ആവേശവും ദൃഢനിശ്ചയവും കൈക്കൊണ്ടു।
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Strength becomes ethically meaningful when governed by purpose: Bhīma’s rising anger is portrayed as focused resolve aimed at overcoming an oppressive, undefeated foe, suggesting that intense emotion should be harnessed in service of dharma rather than indulged as violence for its own sake.
Kṛṣṇa describes the moment when Bhīma, renowned for his power, prepares himself to defeat Jarāsandha. Seeing the challenge of an undefeated enemy, Bhīma ‘takes up’ a fierce fighting spirit, signaling the imminent contest.
