Samrāt-Lakṣaṇa and the Counsel to Check Jarāsandha
vayaṃ caiva mahārāja jarāsandha-bhayāt tadā | mathurāṃ samparityajya gatā dvāravatīṃ purīm ||
The verse highlights pragmatic leadership: even powerful rulers may withdraw from a vulnerable position to protect their people. Strategic relocation in the face of a persistent threat is presented as a realistic, responsibility-driven choice rather than mere cowardice.
Kṛṣṇa addresses the king and recalls a past event: because of the danger posed by Jarāsandha, Kṛṣṇa and his people left Mathurā and established themselves in the fortified city of Dvāravatī (Dvārakā), where they continued to live.
