Educational Q&A

The verse underscores that rightful governance and judgment rest on recognizing legitimate sources of authority—seers, divine order, and the disciplines of śāstra—so that decisions align with dharma rather than mere power.

Yudhiṣṭhira addresses the speaker and acknowledges a prior description of Pitāmaha’s (Brahmā’s) assembly, where great sages, the hosts of gods, and the totality of śāstric knowledge are said to be present—highlighting the grandeur and normative authority of that divine council.
