Omens Observed and the Hearing of the Vṛṣṇi Destruction

बड़ी-बड़ी नदियाँ बालूके भीतर छिपकर बहने लगीं। दिशाएँ कुहरेसे आच्छादित हो गयीं। आकाशसे पृथ्वीपर अंगार बरसानेवाली उल्काएँ गिरने लगीं ।।

ādityo rajasā rājan samavacchannamaṇḍalaḥ | viraśmir udaye nityaṃ kabandhaiḥ samadṛśyata ||

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ, ധൂളിയാൽ സൂര്യമണ്ഡലം മുഴുവനായി മറഞ്ഞുപോയി. ഉദയസമയത്ത് സൂര്യൻ കിരണരഹിതനെന്നപോലെ തോന്നി; ദിനംപ്രതി അശുഭസൂചകമായ ‘കബന്ധ’ങ്ങൾ—തലമില്ലാത്ത ധഡങ്ങളുപോലുള്ള രൂപങ്ങൾ—അവനോടൊപ്പം ദൃശ്യമായി. അപ്പോൾ മഹാനദികൾ മണലിനകത്ത് ഒളിഞ്ഞ് ഒഴുകിത്തുടങ്ങി; ദിക്കുകൾ മഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് മൂടപ്പെട്ടു; ആകാശത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു അങ്കാരവർഷം ചൊരിയുന്ന ഉൽക്കകൾ വീഴാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
