शोकार्णवे निमग्नो5हं भिन्ना नौरिव सागरे | जो पराक्रमशाली

Transliteration

śokārṇave nimagno ’haṃ bhinnā naur iva sāgare | taṃ vṛṣaṃ nihataṃ śrutvā dvairathe rathināṃ varam ||

Translation

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഞാൻ ശോകസമുദ്രത്തിൽ മുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; സമുദ്രമദ്ധ്യേ എന്റെ വഞ്ചി തകർന്നതുപോലെ. രഥികളിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ വൃഷ (കർണൻ) സവ്യസാചി അർജുനൻ ദ്വൈരഥയുദ്ധത്തിൽ വധിച്ചതായി കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അത്യന്തം ശോകാകുലനായി.
