वार्यमाणा महासेना पुत्रैस्तव जनेश्वर । न चातिष्ठत संग्रामे पीड्यमाना समन्तत:ः,जनेश्वर! सब ओरसे पीड़ित हुई आपकी विशाल सेना आपके पुत्रोंके बहुत रोकनेपर भी युद्धभूमिमें खड़ी न रह सकी
vāryamāṇā mahāsenā putrais tava janeśvara | na cātiṣṭhata saṅgrāme pīḍyamānā samantataḥ ||
ജനേശ്വരാ! എല്ലാദിക്കുകളിലും അമർന്നു പീഡിതമായ നിങ്ങളുടെ മഹാസൈന്യം, നിങ്ങളുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ എത്ര തടഞ്ഞാലും യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ നിലകൊള്ളാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.
संजय उवाच
Power and command cannot substitute for inner steadiness and righteous purpose: when an army is overwhelmed and demoralized, even strong leaders and repeated restraint may not prevent collapse. The verse underscores the ethical weight of leadership—choices that lead to adharma can culminate in inevitable breakdown on the field.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Kaurava host, though Duryodhana and the other sons tried to hold it back, could not remain standing in battle because it was being pressed from all directions.
