कर्णपुत्रवधः (The Fall of Vṛṣasena) — Karṇa Parva, Adhyāya 62
चक्ररक्षौ तु पार्थस्य माद्रीपुत्रौ परंतपौ । तावप्यधावतां कर्ण राजानं मा वधीरिति
cakrarakṣau tu pārthasya mādrīputrau paraṁtapau | tāv apy adhāvatāṁ karṇa rājānaṁ mā vadhīr iti ||
പാർത്ഥനായ യുദ്ധിഷ്ഠിരന്റെ രഥചക്രരക്ഷകരായി മാദ്രിപുത്രന്മാരായ നകുലനും സഹദേവനും—ശത്രുസന്താപകരായ പരന്തപ വീരന്മാർ—നിലകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. കർണ്ണൻ മുന്നേറുന്നതു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ‘രാജാവിനെ അവൻ വധിക്കരുത്’ എന്നുറച്ച് അവർ ഇരുവരും അവന്റെ നേരെ പാഞ്ഞു—സ്വാമിരക്ഷയ്ക്കും ധർമ്മപാലനത്തിനുമായി.
