अर्जुनस्य शीघ्रप्रयाणं भीम-शकुनियुद्धं च

तै: कर्णस्याभवद् युद्ध घोररूप॑ विशाम्पते । तादृग् यादृक् पुरा वृत्तं देवानां दानवै: सह,प्रजानाथ! उन सबके साथ कर्णका वैसा ही भयानक युद्ध हुआ, जैसा पूर्वकालमें देवताओंका दानवोंके साथ हुआ था
taiḥ karṇasyābhavad yuddhaṃ ghorarūpaṃ viśāṃpate | tādṛg yādṛk purā vṛttaṃ devānāṃ dānavaiḥ saha prajānātha ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ പ്രജാനാഥാ! അവരൊക്കെയുമായുള്ള കർണ്ണന്റെ യുദ്ധം ഭീകരരൂപം കൈക്കൊണ്ടു; പണ്ടുകാലത്ത് ദേവന്മാർ ദാനവരോടു നടത്തിയ യുദ്ധം പോലെയായിരുന്നു അത്।
