अर्जुनस्य शीघ्रप्रयाणं भीम-शकुनियुद्धं च

कर्णस्तु सात्यकिं जित्वा राजगृद्धी महाबल:
karṇas tu sātyakiṃ jitvā rājagṛddhī mahābalaḥ
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മഹാബലവാനായ കർണൻ, രാജലോഭം പ്രേരണയായി, സാത്യകിയെ ജയിച്ച് മുന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങി. ആ വിജയം യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ തത്സമയ ആവശ്യവും, ആധിപത്യതൃഷ്ണയുടെ പോഷണവും ആയി।
