एवं प्रवृत्ते संग्रामे गजवाजिनरक्षये
evaṁ pravṛtte saṅgrāme gajavājinara-kṣaye
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇങ്ങനെ യുദ്ധം പ്രളയവേഗത്തിൽ മുന്നേറുമ്പോൾ നാശത്തിന്റെ ദൃശ്യം പടർന്നു; ആനകളും കുതിരകളും വെട്ടിവീണു, മനുഷ്യരും നശിച്ചു—യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ പ്രചണ്ഡത വിവേചനമില്ലാത്ത സംഹാരമായി മാറി.
