अर्जुनस्य द्रोणिप्रतिघातः कर्णोपसर्पणं च

कृतो जिधघांसु: शैनेयं खड्गचर्मधृगभ्ययात् । इस प्रकार रणक्षेत्रमें युयुधानके द्वारा सारथि
sañjaya uvāca | kṛto jighāṃsuḥ śaineyaṃ khaḍgacarmadhṛg abhyayāt |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ശൈനേയനെ വധിക്കുമെന്ന് നിശ്ചയിച്ച് അവൻ വാളും പരിചയും ധരിച്ചു അവന്റെ നേരെ മുന്നേറി. യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ യുയുധാനൻ വൃഷസേനനെ സാരഥിയിലും അശ്വങ്ങളിലും രഥധ്വജത്തിലും നിന്ന് വഞ്ചിതനാക്കി; അതിനാൽ അവൻ രണ്ട് ഘടികകൾക്കാലം തന്റെ രഥത്തിൽ ശിഥിലനായി, സ്തംഭിച്ചവനെപ്പോലെ ഇരുന്നു. പിന്നെ വീണ്ടും എഴുന്നേറ്റ്, സാത്യകിയെ കൊല്ലണമെന്നാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ പരിചയും വാളും എടുത്ത് മുന്നേറി.
