इस प्रकार श्रीमह़्ा भारत कर्णपर्वमें कर्ण और शल्यका संवादविषयक पैतालीसवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ,पश्य कर्ण महाघोरं भयदं लोमहर्षणम्
iti prakāraḥ śrīmahābhārate karṇaparvaṇi karṇa-śalya-saṃvāda-viṣayakaḥ pañcacatvāriṃśattamo 'dhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ | paśya karṇa mahāghoraṃ bhayadaṃ lomaharṣaṇam |
ഇങ്ങനെ ശ്രീമഹാഭാരതത്തിലെ കർണപർവത്തിൽ കർണ–ശല്യ സംവാദവിഷയകമായ നാൽപ്പത്തിയഞ്ചാം അധ്യായം സമാപ്തമായി. (സഞ്ജയൻ തുടർന്നു പറഞ്ഞു:) “നോക്കുക, ഓ കർണാ—ഇത് അത്യന്തം മഹാഘോരം; ഭയപ്രദം; രോമാഞ്ചജനകം.”
